Experience the magic of Iceland’s summer nights on this midnight sun whale watching tour from Reykjavik. Operating from June until mid-August, this small group RIB boat adventure offers an unforgettable way to explore Iceland’s marine wildlife beneath the glowing evening sky.
Your journey begins at Reykjavik’s Old Harbour, where you’ll check in before boarding a custom-built, safe, and stable RIB boat. With just 12 passengers on board, the tour offers a personal and uncrowded experience, allowing everyone clear views and close contact with the surroundings. High-quality suspension seats provide added comfort and safety during the ride.
Once out in Faxaflói Bay, your expert guide and captain will search for whales, dolphins, and seabirds, including puffins during the summer season. The boat’s speed allows you to cover a wider area, increasing your chances of sightings. Whenever conditions allow, the engines are turned off so you can fully enjoy the stillness of the ocean and the unique colors of the midnight sun.
After wildlife viewing, the tour continues along Reykjavik’s shoreline, offering stunning views of the city from the water. You’ll pass iconic landmarks such as the Sun Voyager sculpture and Harpa Concert Hall before returning to the harbour.
The tour follows strict guidelines for responsible whale watching, ensuring encounters are respectful and on the animals’ terms. If no whales or dolphins are seen, you’ll receive a complimentary ticket for a Classic Whale Watching tour, valid for up to two years.
